AMSTERDAM, November 6, 2008 – Galerie Gabriel Rolt is proud to present Haptic Field, the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands of Gino Saccone (1979, Jersey Channel Islands). His minimalistic and playful installations will be on show from November 29 to January 3, 2009.

Gino Saccone works across a range of media, predominantly sculpture, performance and film to explore ontological space and encourage a wider notion of what it is to be implicit within the spaces of cultural display.

The refined aesthetic of the works in ‘Haptic Field’ personify historical traces of minimalism though aspire through association and metaphor to be expansive in meaning. In relation, the works lend themselves to transformation within a network of potentialities. Both intuitive and expressive elements sit beside more conceptualized processes where the specific use of materials and visual phenomena point towards more symbolic impressions.

The works include Untitled Glimpse - a practice pad of paper displayed on a shelf with two drawn squiggles; one made by a pink marker and the other by a green roller ball. This stationary shop moment, after referencing itself, reconsiders its role within the oblique familiarities of its new surroundings. Untitled Print is a wall-based assemblage with ten layers of blue carbon and cotton paper slipped between one another. A circular mark is made on the top piece and is presumably echoed ten fold as the index of fading traces remain unseen.
